On Sunday, I went to Graduate Fashion Week in Shoreditch. I’d been to Shoreditch once before on a hunt for street-style but must have picked the wrong day as it was so so quiet. This time, it was completely the opposite and it was exactly how I’d expected it to be. The atmosphere was incredible; the music, the smells from the street food and the weather was gorgeous! Much like Camden, it was quirky and everyone there had such a unique style – I could have sat and “people-watched” all day! I hadn’t been to Graduate Fashion Week before but as next year I’ll be writing my final major project for my Fashion Marketing course, I thought I’d go and see the work that was being produced not only by people from my own course, but also loads of other universities across the country. I was amazed by what I saw! The designers had created an array of beautifully innovative and inspiring collections, and the digital and promotional work was also outstanding. I think it’s safe to say I’ll have my work cut out for me next year, but I am so so excited. I can’t believe how quickly my time at uni has gone so far! In addition to the wonderful showcase of garments and projects, they also held various talks. I attended a great talk abut the role of a fashion stylist. This is an area I’d love to get into in the future so it was really helpful. We later took some time to explore around Shoreditch and visit the independent street-wear stores and vintage boutiques. I could have spent hours in Beyond Retro browsing through all the vintage dresses! Some chinese food in the park and a fresh fruit juice later and we were ready to go. I’ll definitely be going back to explore more of East London on the weekends. Any suggests on where to go next? Let me know!
